Hearts of Gold’s (HoG) mission is to foster sustainable change in lifestyle and levels of self-sufficiency for homeless mothers and their children within the 5 boroughs of Manhattan. HoG has and continues to expand its involvement with various New York City shelters. We support existing programs and create new ones based on the needs of each individual shelter.  Since 1999, Sister to Sister has been the nation’s largest provider of free heart health evaluations, providing 100,000 cardiovascular screenings with immediate results and counseling sessions to women of all ages, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds. Our programs include live cardiac screenings with behavior-change counseling, online assessment and action tools, international educational materials, and awareness campaigns that heart disease is a woman’s #1 health threat.
